Romania's Presidential Campaign Marred By Spam Runs
Date: 12/02/2009

A new low has been reached in what is already being called "the dirtiest electoral campaign in Romania's post-revolutionary period".
Waves of spam messages have appeared, purporting to support both candidates remaining in the race - Mircea Geoana and Traian Basescu.
The message in support of Traian Basescu tries to convince recipients that the incumbent president has not, in fact, stricken a child in 2004 during a rally, while the one in support of Mircea Geoana purports to be an open letter from the candidate himself.
BitDefender has added signatures to block both types of e-mails from reaching the inboxes of BitDefender clients.
